Graphics: A bit more colorful then the SNES version, it shows the true feel of a Yoshi game, kiddish and colorful! Colorful backround and bright animated characters really show off the GBA visual powers. ~10~
Gameplay: I think this is one of the best platformers of all time, this game feels like a Mario game, but with the Yoshi twist. You have to protect Baby Mario, but also collecting red coins and Flowers along the way. The new and improved Yoshi’s Island allows you to hold more items that will help along the way such as the a full egg set or +10 or 20 stars! Also don’t forget Yoshis’ egg that help him shoot down “?” clouds to unlock secret or hidden stars! ~10~
Sound: This game has a variety of sounds, from the tropical Paper Mario sound, to peaceful and happy level sounds! Depending on the level and the backround, the music will vary. The baby crying though can be irritating at time. ~10~
Lasting Appeal: You can go back and collect enough points to unlock the 2 hidden levels in each world and the hidden mini-game in each world. ~Hint: You can hit L+L+B+A+R to unlock a mini-game screen~ ~9~
Overall: I consider this one of, if not the best platformer of all time. Beautiful graphics with the happy music to go along ~Beside the baby crying~ The mini-game are short but very sweet to play. The Boss levels are a bit challenging, but still fun-filled. I give Yoshi’s Island a 10 out of 10!
